There are many many resources to support you as you integrate Seesaw into your K-2 classrooms. Below I have compiled some helpful tips which include blog articles, videos... I will continue to add to this list throughout the year.

PD Options

There are 2 free PD sessions I would recommend. They both allow flexibility in working at your pace as all of the sessions on pre-recorded. PD certificates are available after each training so be sure to keep track of these on your ILP

1. Seesaw Community Learning Hub - this FREE PD training started on Monday and runs until Thursday. All of the sessions are recorded so you can watch them at any time. Each session is 30 minutes long. Several topics that I took were - Seesaw Workflow Tips: Activity Organization and Communication, Building Digital Fluency For Early Learners, and Reimagining Choice Boards with NEW Video and Link Tools. At the end of each session, you gain access to tons of Seesaw activity resources and the speaker's presentation.

2. Seesaw Pioneer program, which takes 1 hour and again tons of great tips on staying organized, creating folders, approving assignments, managing notifications...

I found lots of gold nuggets in all of the items I watched today.

Ready to Go Beyond the Basics?

Creating a Notebook Activity: I could see utilizing this when you want students to complete several activities related to a topic. You could have them all compiled in one activity (think of this as a 3-page hand-out or packet)

Fun Morning Work Activity (From TpT - it's free) but it could just give you ideas for how to layout your assignments.

New Features Released Yesterday (July 14, 2020)

You can now embed a video and/or a URL link directly into a Seesaw activity (on the canvas).

Seesaw Management:
**Important to keep in mind, once you archive your class, the class will not be visible to the students anymore. Their student journals will still be intact and families can still access their child's journals to download and print (if they wish to). But no further work can be completed.**

***Classes must be archived before Eva can set up the students for next year. So I would do this now to get it out of the way.***

  • ARCHIVE OLD ACTIVITIES: Now that you have created a variety of activities in Seesaw for your students, you may want to consider archiving older activities. This will make the stream less overwhelming and students will be able to focus on the current activities. When archiving activities, student responses WILL REMAIN in their student journals.
  • See how to archive old activities.
  • Share Student Work with the Entire Class: Have you ever wished that you could share a student journal entry with the entire class? Maybe it's a picture, story, or a special share?
Watch this short video to learn how to share a student's work with the entire class (or you could select a small group from your class).
