Update # 7 - Happy Halloween

A few quick items:

Thank you teachers for signing up for the teacher laptop maintenance. Joe finished the last few laptops today.

1. Old Art Room - To help facilitate using technology during meetings, I have placed a projector (with a mac dongle), document camera and speakers on a cart in the old art room.  I will see if Willie can hang a screen. I have setup the cart so that you just need to plugin the long black power cord from the projector cart. Please let me know if you have any questions.

2. Hallway Lab - Over the past several weeks, several issues have bubbled up in the hallway lab. It seems that students are logging in with HH accounts and changing settings on the computers - changing screen colors, moving icons around, and changing the dock settings to name a few. This is causing confusion for our younger students and the staff members who are using this space. The expectation is that all settings remain the same. Older students should not be using the HH accounts and making personal setting changes. This is not appropriate and does not follow LARK. I will review these expectations with students in technology class. Please remind your students of these expectations as well.

3. Headphones - If you or your students have borrowed headphones from behind the computer lab door, please return them. I used to have 8 pairs of headphones for students to borrow. I am down to 4.

4. iPads - Please try to shut down your iPads once or even twice a week. This will help to ensure that your apps work properly. If you'd like me to train students or a student in your classroom, please let me know. This would be a great classroom job!

5. Software Request Form - The following apps have been requested and approved for use for Kindergarten classrooms - ToDo  Math (Free), Scratch Jr (Free) and Tic Tac Bananas (Paid). Other grade levels maybe interested in these apps. Check them out and let me know if you'd like any of these apps installed on your grade level iPads. We will then assess if we have money for the paid app.

Starfall Subscription - Kindergarten has requested a building subscription to Starfall. Their request has been approved. Most of the StarFall website is "free" to use. However, a few years ago the "More" Starfall area was launched. Activities include Math, Reading and Songs. Right now we can only access a few activities under each category. Once our subscription is up and running, students will be able to access all of the activities under "More". Additionally, you can create classroom lists with student accounts if you are interested in tracking student work. If you wish to setup classroom lists, you will need to get parent permission before creating accounts. I'll keep you posted as to when our subscription is up and running.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Happy Friday!
