Post #6: Classroom AV, ChromeBooks, iPad Screen Sharing handout, and Seesaw Update

Classroom AV SetupI know many of you have already set up your doc camera and speakers. But if not, and you need assistance, I will be available Thursday and Friday. Just let me know.

Chromebooks: If you haven't already put this habit into place, please have students restart their Chromebooks over lunch. It has fixed a few audio issues students were experiencing during the second half of their remote day.

iPad Screen Sharing in 4 Steps directions. Students are getting quite good at this. But always good to have this printed and on hand. Feel free to use it.

Seesaw
: Several items for you to be aware of.

1. Students now belong to 2 Seesaw classrooms, a Specials class, and your homeroom class. Students will need to switch between classrooms to see their assigned activities. Students will want to make sure they are in the correct classroom before they open/turn in work. We will all need practice and reminders with this new routine.

Students tap on their name and they will see their 2 classrooms. It's the same way that teachers switch between classrooms.

2. Classroom settings: Please take a few minutes to review your Seesaw classroom settings. I made changes last year since we had one Seesaw classroom per homeroom. But now that you have your own Seesaw classroom, I am not able to modify your settings.

Watch this video demonstration for details on switching between Seesaw classrooms and modifying your classroom settings.

3. Invite Families: Did you know that you can invite families to join their child's Seesaw journal? This is a great way for families to stay connected to your classroom. Here is information from Seesaw on how to set up families with Seesaw for Families.

4. Seesaw Access For TAs and Other Specialists: Thank you for your patience. I think we have figured this out. It's a little bit tricky so please read this carefully.

If you are TA or specialist teacher who used Seesaw last year, you will need to login to Seesaw and UPDATE your email address to your new address (@waylandps.org).

Here is a video tutorial on how to update your Seesaw email address.

If you are new to Seesaw (TA, specialist...), then you need to go to Seesaw and create an account using your Wayland email (@waylandps.org).

Here is a video tutorial on how to create a NEW Seesaw account.

THEN classroom teachers, please invite TAs and any specialists (reading, guidance, special educators) as co-teachers into your classroom.

Here is a video tutorial on how to invite co-teachers into your Seesaw classroom.
Here are written directions from the Seesaw help center.

Here is what the join email will look like from Seesaw.
