Post #1 FY22: IFP Update, Adapters, Device Carts, Zoom & Google Meet, Subscriptions and Something Fun!

Thank you all for your patience as we get all the tech sorted out!! Never a dull moment. There will be several updates coming over the next few days/weeks ahead. If you need anything at all, please let me know!

IFP Update

  • The flat panel boards did not arrive in time for installation. If you were expecting a new flat panel board installed in your room you will see it sometime later this fall. I will keep you posted. Over the summer we created a Google Classroom course which has all the information you will need to get started. We will activate the classroom as we get closer to the installations.

  • If you have a flat panel and need cleaning supplies, I have plenty so swing on over.

Adapters:

  • Anyone who needs a connector for the new macbook air, can stop by the lab and get a USB-C adapter. You need this connector to connect to a projector, or an external drive of any type.

  • TAs - I think I have enough adapters for you as well so if you'd like one to connect your Chromebook to your classroom projector, please stop by the lab. If your classroom has a flat panel (like the one in the lab) then I do not think you need the adapter.

Equipment:

  • Chromebook carts have been distributed. The count should be accurate but if you are missing any, please let me know. Devices are not labeled at this time. I am having student labels printed with their name and homeroom. We can have students put the labels on during tech class or at a time that is convenient for you.
  • iPad Carts are not done yet. We will be working on getting 1st and 2nd-grade carts ready on Tuesday and Wednesday. My goal is to have those carts ready to distribute on Thursday. Kindy iPad carts should be ready Friday or Wednesday. If there are any issues with that plan, please let me know.
  • Document Cameras - I will be coming around on Tuesday (after 9:30) to help anyone with the setup of their document camera. I have lots of iPevo document cameras. They work great with the flat panels. Here are some instructions to help you get started. Who wants one!!

Zoom and Google Meet

  • On June 18th, our Wayland Zoom Accounts reverted to the BASIC Zoom subscription. That means you will still be able to use your Wayland Zoom account, but you will be limited to a 40-minute meeting.
  • Google Meet is a great option for short or long meetings and has tons of new features.
Software Subscriptions:

Eva has been busy getting our subscriptions up and running. Stay stuned for details.
