Post #2: Student Device Policy, Printing @ HH, Subscriptions & Instructional Tools, Scanning

ClassLink Update - Classlink seemed to work much better this week! I hope you thought that as well. 😀  As you know, technology can be unpredictable! I needed to remind myself to have a Plan B.

Student Device Policy - Several teachers have asked about sending home devices for students during isolation and/or nightly homework. Please read our district policy for Elementary Tech @ Home Guidelines

This year the district is asking families to pay an Elementary Maintenance Fee @ Home (similar to the MS and HS). The following information has been included in the Happy Hollow Hawk. Feel free to share this with your families!

Printing @ HH:

  1. Let's go green: think before printing and ask yourself if you really need a hard copy. Can your info be shared in a Google tool?

  2. Print all multiple copies to one of our copiers - Copy_Room, 3rd_Grade_Copier or Main_Office_Copier to decrease costs.
For example, a class set of worksheets should always be sent to a copy machine.

  3. Only color jobs should be sent to the color printers.

  4. Be aware of how many pages and how many copies you are printing. There have been many documents left unclaimed at the lab printers.

  5. Submit a tech request for all printer and toner issues. (Email help@waylandps.org).

Subscription Tools:

The following district subscription tools are ready! Please remember to "Sign in with Google" or "Continue with Google" when you login! (Ruth has already added the extensions to our Google Accounts for the following tools so you do not need to add them.

  • EdPuzzle - Assign videos and create quizzes for your students and more!

  • Kami - Create and send assignments to your students!

  • Padlet - Create learning boards! This is a teacher tool and students should not create accounts. Students can add their ideas!

  • Parlay - Facilitate student discussions!

  • Peardeck - Create engaging and interactive slideshows!

  • Screencastify - Record and edit videos and more!

  • Typetastic is ready and will be introduced during Tech Class.

  • AMC Anywhere Assessment

WPS Instructional Tools Software Policy -

Scanning from a Copier: Joe created directions for accessing documents on your MacBook when you scan from a building copier. Not sure how to use the copier as a scanner? Then check out these scanning directions.

Thank you for reading and please let me know if you have any questions.
