Post #5: 2FA, Printing, Student Information System, Tech Committee

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) - Thank you thank you teachers for working with me to turn on MFA for your Wayland Google account! I appreciate your time and effort in getting this important security feature set up.

If you haven't turned it on, please do so by May 7th. Otherwise, you may be locked out of your Wayland account. If you need help, here is a slideshow you can follow. Directions start on slide #5. If you run into any issues, please let me know.

Printing - I know I have written about this before but I am asking for your help. There are many unclaimed printouts at the printers (especially the Lab Color Printer). A few reminders and updates on printing:

  • printers are NOT copiers - if you need to print more than 5 copies you NEED to use a copier
  • students should be printing to black/white printers only (computer lab, outside guidance, outside library, 3rd-grade copier, and main hallway)
  • check the page count - do you really need every page printed
  • color printing - print essential pages in color; does a TPT activity need to be printed in color? every page in color?

Thank you for your help with this.

Tech Committee - Our next meeting is Monday, May 12th at 2:45 in the tech lab. All are welcome to join us.

Student Information System (SIS) - As you may have heard, we are moving to a new SIS next school year (fall 2025). We are switching from eSchool to PowerSchool. Special educators began using PowerSchool in this past fall for any student receiving services. In addition to that service, we will use PowerSchool to:

  • access student information
  • take attendance
  • create report cards

  • access health alerts (I believe this will be integrated from SNAP.)

The Tech Department is working on training information and will share once details are finalized.
